Music Therapy File Folder Applications for Older Elementary and Adolescent Clients
This online or CD-ROM Continuing Music Therapy Education course offers music therapists with opportunities to make self-contained applications for older children and adolescents in music therapy treatment. Designed as an introduction to making visual and organization aids, this course provides detailed instructions on how to make ten (10) file folder applications for use in music therapy practice. The file folder applications are designed to engage the interest of children and adolescents in grades 4-12 with a variety of ability levels and music therapy treatment goals.
CMTE: Ten (10) CMTEs awarded at the completion of all coursework.
Learner Objectives (from the CBMT Scope of Practice, 2010):
Learners will:
- Develop music therapy experiences that address client music and nonmusic objectives, strengths, and needs (II.A.2)
- Demonstrate method to acheive therapeutic goals focusing on creative strategy development (II.A.2)
- Complete ten (10) projects for use in clinical setting with children and adolescents (I.C, II.A.2)
- Use completed projects with clients
Activity Schedule and Format:
This course is offered in two formats - online through a dedicated, password protected website, or on CD-ROM, accessed on a personal computer without need for the internet. Each of the lessons may be accessed at the convenience of the learner - any time, any where.
CBMT credits will only be awarded when the instructor has received all tasks from the participant.
Online participants will submit all tasks and evaluations through an online submission process, either via email to the instructor or via survey engines accessed through the internet.
CD-ROM participants will submit all tasks to the instructor via Self-Addressed Stamped envelopes provided by the instructor and included in the charge for the course.

$100.00 - online course: One (1) year access to all materials including templates, instructions, tasks, and evaluations. Also includes assistance with course-related issues (not technological issues). Requires computer, internet access (DSL or faster connection recommended to access all materials), Adobe Acrobat Reader, word processing program, scanner or digital camera. Includes certificate mailed or emailed to participant after all tasks and evaluations have been received.
$150.00 - CD-ROM course: Unlimited access to course material including templates, instructions, tasks, and evaluations. Also includes assistance with course-related issues (not technological issues). Requires computer, internet browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or equivalent), Adobe Acrobat Reader, word processing program, printer, and scanner or digital camera. Includes ten (10) Self-Addressed Stamped envelopes for ease in mailing tasks and evaluations to instructor. Includes certificate mailed or emailed to participant after all tasks and evaluations have been received.
